Charles bridge with The Queen Anna's folly

Prague is a grey city these days. The weather is definitely not winter-like, air is heavy, the polution is getting worse, people are getting worse. Therefore I'll show you a picture from much better day. It's Charles bridge with The Queen Anna's folly on the horizon. There are wonderful gardens around the folly (which is close to Prague Castle, too). And you can take a boat trip on Vltava river as seen on the picture :)

Albertov

It rained today. Snow is gone. Looks like autumn is here again. This sad view is from our school at Albertov.

Havelska street

Only a week old photo. Now it's covered with snow :) This is Havelska street - the part without marketplace. There are two cafés/restaurants on the right side. When the weather is nice you can sit outside. This is such a wonderful place.

Frantiskanska garden

This fabulous place right in the center of Prague conects Jungmanovo square and Svetozor arcade which leads to Wenceslas square. Frantiskanska garden is favorite spot to have a rest - especially when it's not covered with snow :) Believe me, it's full of people in summer. And this is how it looked today.

Winter time

Such a nice day today. With clear sky, sun shining and lot of snow.

Snow, the beginning

I took this photo yesterday in the afternoon. I wanted to capture the first snow in Prague.
Today it was snowing everywhere all the time. Thus making traffic not only in Prague into the unpleasant adventure.

And if you wonder, this photo of red car with the first snow flakes was taken at Anenske square. There's a nice little backstreet to Bartolomejska street - will tell you later for what is Bartolomejska street known :)

Snow is here, even in Ostrovni street

Well, it's official. It's here. The Snow. The Snow we have been waiting for for so long. Let it snow, let it snow!

By the way, this is Ostrovni street as it looked few minutes before midnight. Ostrovni street is in the centre of Prague. It is parallel to Narodni trida street and the most important thing about it is that we have offices here :)

Public toilets at Uhelny trh square

Underground public toilets at Uhelny trh square. "Zeny" means Women, "Muzi" means men. This square is right in the centre of Prague with Wenceslas square and Old town square just a few minutes away. I used to go to the elementary school at Uhelny trh. But at these times the square looked awful. It was being reconstructed during my school years. Now it looks fantastic.

Hradcany

This is what you'll see if you continue with the yesterday's photo to the right. This district of Prague (with Prague Castle) is called Hradcany. You'll get there by tram 22 and 23 (I must mention that I like those tram lines - but I would cover this in another post sometime in the future :)

Prague Castle

Prague Castle as seen from Karluv bridge (Charles bridge in English) during a sunny friday afternoon. Do I have to say more? :)

Office of the Government of the Czech Republic

We have new government ... after the elections that were held last summer. Well, we quite get used to not have a normal government during the last months.
I walked by the Office of the Government today so I took a picture of it. It's near Malostranska metro station.

Louis Vuitton in Parizska street

Entry to Louis Vuitton shop in Parizska street. I told you yesterday there are some fine fine shops in Parizska street. And I didn't mention that this street is full of trees and looks wonderful during summer. It starts just at the Vltava river and goes to Old Town square (or Staromestske square if you want).

By the way, it's very windy and rainy in Prague ... and I guess it is the same at more places in Europe.

Cartier in Parizska street

Parizska street (Paris street) is the most high fashion street in Prague. This is the place where you have to go shopping if you're making a whole lot of money. Among others there'll be a new Cartier this spring.

iStyle - the small Apple store in Prague

There are a few places in Prague where you can see and buy Apple products, this being one of them. It's the iStyle in Revolucni street (close to Namesti Republiky metro station). This shop is full of products, you can try almost everything from Apple. Unfortunately there are no people. The shop at Andel has more customers for sure.
Have you seen the new iPhone?
And yes, I love Apple :)

Jiraskuv bridge at night

Clear sky in Prague. During the day it's almost like spring but after sunset it's very cold. And this is Jiraskuv bridge in the picture with the view on the west bank of Vltava river.

Riverside near Palackeho square

I had a little time before lunch today so I take a little walk. This is near Palackeho square (you can get there by subway - station Karlovo namesti, exit Palackeho namesti; it's the yellow line). The river is called Vltava (it's the longest river in the Czech Republic) and you can see Prague Castle on the horizon. Isn't this nice? :)

Sale everywhere

Let's go shopping :)

Today was a sunny day

It is not usual to have that warm and sunny weather in Prague during January. But I don't complain. The usual at this time is cold, cloudy, mud, muddy snow and more mud.
There is National theatre in the picture as I captured it on my way from work to school. Well, I could use subway but this is much much better. Don't you think? :) There's Vltava river and Prague Castle on the left which you can't see, obviously. I should post them later.

Prague's biggest post office

Entry to Prague's biggest post office in Jindrisska street. It is open 24 hours a day and is very beautiful inside, you ought to see. It is very close to Wenceslas square and as you can't miss Wenceslas square while in Prague, you can visit this post office, too. Jindrisska street crosses the square just in the middle.

Palace of books on Wenceslas Square

One of my favorite bookstores in Prague. This one has a wonderful choice of art books, photography books, fashion books and I think it's the only place in Prague where you can get a moleskine (cheaper then I got it from eBay). I go there every now and then and spend there a lot of time browsing the books. Today I bought a bunch of postcards to send to a random postcrosser somewhere in the world. Have you ever heard of Postcrossing.com?

Oh... and the bookstore is in the upper part of Wenceslas Square.

Nuselsky most - (former) best place for suicide in Prague

This bridge is called Nuselsky most. It has a subway inside and a lot of people commited suicide by jumping from it. Fortunately it's not happening now. The construction on the edges is hard to climb. But you can still jump under the subway train at the nearby station... I know, this wasn't funny. See you tomorrow, hopefully.

Relax near Nuselsky bridge, Prague

This is a wonderful place near Nuselsky bridge to sit and relax. Although there is a 4-lane road just a few meters from here with a very bad traffic.
