Mustek metro station

Mustek metro station. Two metro lines meet here. There are crowds of people changing the lines in the morning and in the afternoon. Sometimes - in the mornings - there's a quitar player in the changing passage. I don't think he gets a lot of money when all those people just rush by, mostly still being in the sleeping mode :)

It was raining today. She was the only one here.

Vltava river

There's a swimming pool "Podoli" in the left top corner over the boat and a beach "Zlute lazne" to the right. Both are pretty popular in Prague.

Matejska pout started

Matejska pout started today. Matejska pout (or Mathew's Fair) is "basically an amusement park in the Vystaviste fairground in Prague 7" (description from Daniel Butler's blog). It will be there till April.

And we have new Miss Czech Republic. This is her.

Airship

There's an airship in the photo. Only it is a little bit hidden. We have very dirty windows at our school :) I think this would be something like a weather airship. And I believe it belongs to the Faculty of Electrical Engeneering which is in the same building as our Faculty of Mechanical Engeneering. Both belongs to the Czech Technical University. And we will have a brand new spectacular technical library at Dejvice in a few years. It will stand just beside this building.

There's a basketball hall named Folimanka nearby... and a few services for american cars and an american car parts dealer.

Again on Charles bridge. It's on my way home from library :)
Interesting light today. Below is St. Nicholas Church at the Old Town Square.

This is children's section of our Municipal Library of Prague. I usually sit here, on the upper floor, because there's always a place to sit :)

Church at Jiriho z Podebrad square

Extraordinary church at Jiriho z Podebrad square (this would be something like George from Podebrady square in English :). It was build in the early 30s of the last century and is surrounded by a park. There's also a metro station called Jiriho z Podebrad.

There's a service for cameras and photographic equipment nearby. That's why I was here today. I was sent here by a guy from another service and told that this is the right place to have serviced my Mamiya. Unfortunately this is not the right place. It looks like that the only place in Prague where you can have your Mamiya repaired is at Mr. Kocian. Well, I'm going to visit him next week. (What a coincidence, he lives near my dentist's :)

Another shot of Charles bridge

I'm sick and haven't been out of home for a few days. So I'll serve you an older photo of Charles bridge. This is from a kind of back street which leads to a very small park with a lot of benches facing the river and Petrin hill. As you can see, there's a tower on that hill. It's called Petrin tower (guess you would guess its name yourself :). It was build in 1891 as a smaller version of Eiffel tower in Paris.

Library

We have a great library. Although you can't really tell from this photo. This is a section with books in foreign languages and also a good place to be if you're looking for privacy.

Vltava river

Monday's photo from a right bank of Vltava river. This is in Modrany (southern part of Prague). There's a great cycle-way on this side of Vltava that goes right to the centre of Prague. All the way along the river.

There's also a chocolate factory nearby. Well, I am not sure if they still make chocolate here, but they did few years ago. That's for sure. You could smell it :) All I know now is that Nestle company has its headquarters here in a big glass building. And what is interesting in here is their abnormal use of beach umbrellas. As the sun shines inside to a wide open space in the center of the building, they have to protect themselves from the sunrays. So from the top floor you see edges of the lower floors (those are open office spaces) filled with those umbrellas making it look like at a beach. Last note. They have company's shop on the ground floor with "company's" prices for not only chocolates, but for make-up, too.

Mustek metro station

This is how you get in Mustek metro station. Mustek is one of the busiest stations in Prague. Two lines (green and yellow) meet here. It has its entrances in Narodni trida street and several at Wenceslas square. So it's pretty in the center of Prague.

We used to play on these steps (are they called escalators in English?) in the days of elementary school (which is very close to Mustek). We took a paper from an excercise book, shape it in the shape of a car and sent it down on the slipway between the steps. It was very funny. Running down to cach the car - they did fly up, often - and then running up to send it down once more. I know I did a poor job in explaning this "game", but I tried, at least :)

Flower shop in front of Tesco store

Flower shop in front of Tesco store on Narodni trida street. If you were living in Prague for lets say at least 15 years you would call this store "Maj" (that's Czech equivalent for "May" and it's pronounced similar to "my"). Now it's Tesco store and a cultural heritage. Actually you can't see almost anything from it in this shot. I'll do it better next time. Maybe when it's not raining.

And one more thing. Just a few steps back is Evald cinema. A small movie-theatre where all the fine films can be seen :)

Panel house in Modrany

A typical panel house. Lot of them are being renovated these days. They're much nicer then. At least our is much nicer with a mix of various colors :) Well, the panel house I live in is also much much smaller. And this is a view from our storage in Modrany.

Palace Beethoven

I didn't know you can buy an apartment in this red building until recently. It's called Palace Beethoven, it's in the historical centre of Prague and it must be pretty expensive.

Under Charles bridge

It's not that easy to get under Charles bridge. There are steps to get just under it. But not all the steps are here and the banister isn't fixed. A little adventure. Well, you can always go to the near restaurant, have a drink and see this and the whole bridge without risk of broken limbs. Not sure if you see National theatre as from this place.

Smiling house at Prague's Lesser Town. Near Kampa island with park, historical buildings and its own genius loci. This is such a picturesque place.

I must be obsessed with Charles bridge. But can you blame me for it? Today was a great day for taking photos. So be prepared, the Charles bridge serie will continue :)
