Slavia cafe and National theatre

Slavia cafe and National theatre
Slavia cafe may be Prague's most known cafe. Although cafe Le Havre - about 2 minutes from here, also at Narodni trida street, which is the street with the tram in the picture - is more popular these days. There's only one thing better in Slavia: the view on Prague castle. And that building on the right is National theatre.

Canonet QL17 Week: #3 - National theatre

Prague - National theatre
National theatre in Prague like you probably haven't seen before. I can imagine this being somewhere at the sea. Maybe in Greece :)

I shoot this with my Canonet last week. On a Kodak Tri-X 400 which is my favorite black and white film from now :) And it was very close to not. I took it to a (different than usual) photolab on Sunday and as I was in a Sunday mood I totally forget to tell them to push the film one stop (I shoot it at 800 iso). Well, I was there again on Monday. Five minutes after they opened only to find out they sent the films out already. Luckily for me, not far away. So I discovered where they are sending films: to a place, that sent them to another one. Right, just a few minutes before I came here. And now comes the real luck for me. I was given a phone number to that magic place, that almost all of films from Prague are sent to. And they were kind enough to change my order and develop the film at 800. I scaned the negative yesterday and it turns out absolutely awesome. Now I know why so many people love Kodak Tri-X :)

Photo taken with Canonet QL17 and Kodak Tri-X 400 (exposed at 800 ISO)

PS: The new photolab from the beginning of my story is FotoSkoda - Prague's most famous photo store. Mostly for its wide array of second-hand stuff. And their film developing is also cheaper and faster. I found one older photo from almost inside.

PPS: Have you seen Apple Special Event? I love the new iMovie :)

National theater as one of the bests of Prague

National theater in the days the sun was shinning (that means last week).

By the way, somebody living in our street must have a piano because I can hear it through the window right now. This is kinda new. We can hear a whistle here sometimes. And drums - but that is from our flat. My flatmate Tomas plays them :) Playing drums is very addictive. I fell in love with it the first time I tried it. And then you can here a lot of people going from the pub at night in our street. They usually speak English, sometimes they sing, sometimes they sing very nice, and they are always laughing :)

Going back to the National theater, these are older post with pictures of Prague's National theater.

Under (and behind) National theatre in Prague

This way you entrer the place behind Natinal theatre (theatre being to the left from this view). You can go to Laterna Magika - another interesting theatre - from here. Or you can take your skateboard and join the others who skate at this place. And if you're lucky, you wouldn't end up under the tram going on Narodni trida street, which is on the opposite side (over the red lighted building in the photo).

Under Charles bridge

It's not that easy to get under Charles bridge. There are steps to get just under it. But not all the steps are here and the banister isn't fixed. A little adventure. Well, you can always go to the near restaurant, have a drink and see this and the whole bridge without risk of broken limbs. Not sure if you see National theatre as from this place.

Today was a sunny day

It is not usual to have that warm and sunny weather in Prague during January. But I don't complain. The usual at this time is cold, cloudy, mud, muddy snow and more mud.
There is National theatre in the picture as I captured it on my way from work to school. Well, I could use subway but this is much much better. Don't you think? :) There's Vltava river and Prague Castle on the left which you can't see, obviously. I should post them later.
