8pm at Charles bridge

Prague - 8pm at Charles bridge
Nice thing about this picture is the fact that it is 8pm and there is still light.
Location: entry to Charles bridge
Temperature: 19 °C (66.2 °F)
The man is filming: three men in historic costumes playing on various music instruments while inviting tourist to late afternoon concert

The weather in Prague is getting better and better :)

One from Charles Bridge

Night walks in Prague are really nice. But only if you aren't in a hurry and have warm clothes. Especially the latter helps a lot.

Blurred Prague Castle

Blurred Prague Castle
Back in Prague after two days in Karvina. Snow is finally here in the Czech republic. I can tell after five hours night drive to Prague. Well, we were the lucky ones. Others waited for hours at the roads jammed by a dozens and dozens of trucks unable to climb them.

Prague apartment at Charles bridge I want to live in

Prague apartment at Charles bridge
I count this apartment to one of my Prague's "'d like to live in" :) It is so close to Charles bridge and I bet the view - including Prague Castle - is fantastic. Lucky person who lives here.

Prague Food Festival at Museum Kampa

Prague Food Festival at Museum Kampa
Next weekend there'll be Prague Food Festival at Museum Kampa. So if you're in Prague and love great food you can't miss this festival. Entry fee for Prague Food Festival is 350 Kc (that's about 13 Euro or 17 US dollars) and you can taste the best of the best 12 Prague and Czech restaurants every one of the three festival days. You'll get all the details about Prague Food Festival 2007 at the PragueFoodFestival.com.
(I already regret that I won't be in Prague in the time of the food festival.)

There is also an exhibition Andy Warhol - Disaster relics: Selected prints at Museum Kampa. Very good and definitely worth seeing as my friend told me last week. And by the Andy Warhol poster on the picture you can see which building Museum Kampa is (as seen from Charles Bridge).

Theme Day: Prague Street lights and signs

Prague street lights and signs
Welcome to Prague Daily Photo! Hope you're enjoying the Daily Photo blogs' Theme day for the month of September.

This light is right in front of the Prague Castle overlooking the whole Prague (really a lovely place :). The signs will guide you to Prague Castle (the left one) and to Charles bridge and the church of St. Nicholas (the right ones). Well, you can get to Charles bridge even if you go to the other side. It is as simply as going anyway down from the hill Prague Castle stands on.

Picture taken with Canonet QL17 (as well as a lot more here at Prague DP) and Kodak Tri-x.

Thanks for your visit, hope we'll see each other again soon :) Wonder where in the whole world you will go now:

Yawning Prague taxidriver near Charles bridge

Yawning Prague taxidriver at Charles bridge
Prague taxidriver at the end of Karlova street facing the Charles Bridge... and yawning :)

We had a school cafeteria across the street. We were 12 or so and have to run through the old Prague (Old Town square included) to have our lunch. We have to run because we wanted to be there first. And we found it funny running in the streets :)

Things to see from Charles Bridge other than Prague Castle

Prague, Charles Bridge, Vltava river
You can also see a boat from Charles Bridge. Or you can see Charles Bridge from a boat :)

Prague started big and a very very long reconstruction of Charles Bridge. It will be still open for tourists but it will be slowly under reconstruction. I think it will end in 2011 or so. Maybe later. They are reusing the old stones. The originals from Petr Parler from the 14th century. And when the stone is unusable, they will make a new one but in the old fashioned way. So it will look just like when the bridge was firstly finished in 1402.

Canonet QL17 Week: #4 - Charles bridge

Canonet - Prague, Charles bridge
I bet everybody who has ever been to Prague was here - at the entrance to Charles bridge with a view on Prague's castle.

I think I've seen very similar photo before. But I don't know where. Maybe a lot of people shoot this while in Prague :)

---

It's raining in Prague. And when it is raining in Prague, you better not wear flip-flops. I can confirm they are way too much dangerous on Prague's polished stone block paving.

One more (photo related) thing - we had a photoshoot today and you can guess my excitement when we were shooting with a Hasselblad H3D-39 :) I don't think you can get much better. The pictures from H3D are just stunning! If you'll ever need a pro photographer in Prague then I suggest Radovan Subin.

... well, I've just spent an hour surfing at Hasselblad website and going through the Hasselblad section on eBay. I should do something less time wasteful. Hope you like the Canonet series :)

650 years of Charles Bridge

Charles bridge - Prague's famous landmark - is 650 years today. Emperor Charles IV started the construction with the first stone on July 9, 1347 at 5:31 am (I don't know how they know it so exactly).

There were celebrations, of course. But as we have national holidays on Thursday and Friday I think there were only tourist here celebrating while all Praguers were out of Prague :)

Under Charles bridge

It's not that easy to get under Charles bridge. There are steps to get just under it. But not all the steps are here and the banister isn't fixed. A little adventure. Well, you can always go to the near restaurant, have a drink and see this and the whole bridge without risk of broken limbs. Not sure if you see National theatre as from this place.
