I prefer book - Levne knihy

I prefer book, Levne knihy, Prague
NO! I PREFER BOOK! - Levne knihy's ad facing one of their book stores at Wenceslas square. And this is a BIG ad. Levne knihy, translated to English Cheap books, is a book shop chain with, you guessed it, cheap books. They have their own line of classic literature and you can find some really good encyclopedia type of books here - often for a fragment of their original price. They have also a lot of old music CDs with classic, jazz, rock'n'roll and also some of the popstars of 80s and 90s whom most of the people wouldn't know today. They are usually from 50 to 150 Kc (that's roughly 2 to 5,50 Euro).
I'm saving the best for the last. They also have their own DVD line of classic films including such as from Francois Truffaut, Roman Polanski, Wim Wenders, Akira Kurosawa, Jean-Luc Godard, Pedro Almodóvar, Ingmar Bergman, Federico Fellini and films with Pierre Richard and Louis de Funès. Well, there are more. All of them for 99 Kc (about 3,70 Euro). These are the best Christmas gifts :)

By the way, what do you read now?
I'll start with mine's: Sue Townsend's The growing pains of Adrian Mole and Charles Bukowski's Hot Water Music.

Love the retro ad! (and the bohemian cut crystal glass ;-))

Just finishing "Love in the times of cholera" by Gabriel García Márquez.

I like the ad, even though it looks very communistic... And I love that store. I bought a lot of DVDs there.
I'm reading a lot Paul Auster and at the moment "Moon Palace".

I seriously wish I could have a copy of this print to place near our seldom-used television. I'm reading a whole list...to many to name here, but I just recently catalogued them on my blog.

We are staying at a rented flat for two months. There were several books there. Atlantis was a total hoot, and I am now reading a novel about King Arthur.

Ted and Lori: I finally found your list. I regularly visit your photo blog and thought I had missed it somewhere until I found your second blog and that you were a teacher in Kosice :)

ro_pumpkin: Yes, you should :) Christmas is a great time to visit other European cities... that's why I want to visit some in that time, too :)

Robert y Cynthia: I read your story from Alza. It was very funny. Well, I guess it wasn't funny for you at all at that time :) Hopefully you won't have problems again, but if you'll feel like somebody who speaks Czech would help you, just write me an email (jan@cadillac.cz).

What a wonderful shop. The DVDs sound terrific! Indeed, they must make great presents!

I read the first Townsend book a long time ago, and your comment only just reminded me of it. Lots of memories...

Thank you for your comment on my Villigen blog.
