Stairs under Hlavkuv bridge

I put this place near Vltavska metro station in my top ten list of places in Prague I would rather not be visiting at night.

+ one thing I'd like to share. Do you know Annie Leibovitz? I bet lot of you do. There's an interesting interview with her (the link goes to my favorite blog of Chase Jarvis in case you'd ask). Also, Annie Leibovitz: Life Through a Lens is a great movie. I'm buying a DVD as Christmas gift for myself :)

Hidden garden with sculptures

And it's hidden on Libensky island. With ten or more of them on this little place where nobody goes to. I still wonder why they are here. It took me nine years to look over that wall and find them. Big mystery for me.

What else is Libensky island known for? They sell a lot of second-hand cars and second-hand furniture here. I fell in love with a table and sooo comfy chairs... that cost more than you (or I at least) can imagine.

When it's cold outside you should go to a hot club

Obcanska plovarna in Prague
Here's a snapshot from Obcanska plovarna (which is actually better in summer as it is right at the river). If you look carefully you can see a girl holding microphone. That's Agata Hanychova - our own Czech version of Paris Hilton girl. Now you know just one more thing about Czech Republic that your friends don't know. For sure :)

There's also the newest club in Prague called Prdel. At Zitna street very close to Charles square. And to improve your Czech skills even more, you can click here to find out what Prdel actually means in our language. (Sorry I didn't warn you.)

The third fact for today's post is that all good clubs and restaurants in Prague are already fully booked for Christmas parties. Well, this goes from the last week on.

Just want to let you know that Prague is ready for Christmas and absolutely crowded during the day (in spite of this 2 or 3 am photo).

Now we wait only for the snow :)

Havelska for the second time

Prague - Havelska
Inspired by myself I wanted to have this one on film, too :)

PS: I've just read a comic strip at one Slovak web about advertising. Lady in it saying: I love Christmas... Snow, gifts, holiday songs... The best 10 weeks in a year. Well, that exactly explains the randomness of my posts in these days. The moving and not having internet connection is only icing on the cake. But it will get better :) Cheers from Teplice

Prague Metro survey

Prague - Metro B line
We had a big Prague Metro survey today. When you entered the station you got a special ticket and you gave it back at your end station. You can imagine all the trains full with people holding their special ticket in front of them :)

Last time this kind of survey happened was when we were young boys. So after the school we traveled all stations like crazy getting and returning the tickets everywhere having fun that there will be some weird results after final counting. But I guess the people doing the "counting" didn't care at all :)

Breakfast in a park? Why not :) Kakna discovered this cute little park first so big thanks to her! This one is from last week when we still had at least a bit of sunshine in Prague. It's so cold now.

Prumyslovy palac at Holesovice exhibition grounds

Prague - Prumyslovy palac at Holesovice exhibition grounds
Fire destroyed the left wing last week. And people keep coming here to see it. This one is from Saturday before they started the cleaning. It's kinda sad. I remember so many exhibitions here including few of our own. I think they will use the central part and the right wing now. Until they build the left wing again. Yes, that is their plan. Wonder how it will look like.

PS: Here's the same story at Kakna's Prague.

02 Arena, former Sazka Arena and cheap Velvias

O2 Arena, former Sazka Arena. A place where all the big concerts in Prague happen.

And a quick tip for you in Prague using medium format film cameras. Go to Ultralab in Vladislavova street, ask for box with 50Kc films (I mentioned it here before) and you have a big chance to find medium format Fuji Velvias here. Expiration date is 10/2008 and they are kept in the refrigerator, of course.

Street art at Liben

Street art at Liben
I think this guy sits here since august or so when there was a graffiti exhibition in Prague streets. Still, he looks really good.

Also, Sunday is the last day of Designblok in Prague and I recommend to visit it. Shame it's impossible for me to go there. Anybody else working on Sunday?

Door and film bargains

Prague - Door
Elevator door near my photo store close to Narodni trida. It looks very unused. And this is where I usually put the new film in a camera.

The photo store itself is in Vladislavova street and if you're around ask for "the box with 50 Kc films". There are just expired films, all for 50 Kc (that's about 2 Euro), and sometimes you can find a real bargain!

Mercedes

Prague - Mercedes
(I think it's pretty obvious I'm a car guy.) I took this at historical cars race at Zbraslav. It's a race up the hill (I guess the correct term is different but you do understand me, right? :) and it's pretty old. The first was there in 1908! We used to climb trees along the up hill road, watch the cars go by and eat apples and peers from the branches when we were young. That was in the nineties not in 1908. You can get the idea of the first races on these three photos I found.

Car-related PS: I accidentally stumbled upon this special screening of Back To The Future movie with more than a dozen of DeLoreans. Now, imagine beaded Back To The Future DeLorean. Wouldn't that be cool? Well, it is. Only at The Lone Beader :)

See you tomorrow

I wrote it before, I'm a huge Apple fan and think that iPhone is amazing. But I love my Nokia which I charge only twice a week and I don't care if I drop it on the street. You know :) What about you, do you have an iPhone?
